Baramulla: Army on Friday termed killing of six militants as a “major success for security agencies.”
Talking to media on the sidelines of a function in Baramulla, Lt Gen AK Bhatt, GOC 15 Corps said that the encounter was a “surgical operation and is a big achievement for security agencies” as there were no casualties of government forces or civilians in the operation.
On Srinagar Hizb militants meeting, the Army Commander said: “We are verifying the facts whether meeting really took place or not.”
These pictures could be morphed or taken long back before going viral on social media. “Whosoever will join violence will be dealt with the same manner as what has happened today”.
Gen AK Bhatt while praising people of the northern region of Kashmir said: “people here always supported us to maintain peaceful environment”.
Responding to a question on the killing of two persons in Shopian, one of them by throat slitting, the army officer said that to target civilians in the war was a “big weakness of militants”.
He said that since last 12 months militants in hundreds have been killed. “We want a peaceful environment in the Kashmir so that people can live peacefully.”
Bhatt said that many girls were involved in the militancy “but we want that women should not be used in this line.” (GNS)
