Ace Wushu player from Jammu and Kashmir Bhanu Pratap Singh is among the 16-member Indian squad to participate in the BRICS Games scheduled to be held from June 11 to 17 at Kazan in Russia.
As per the handout issued here, Asian Games Medallist, Surya Bhanu Partap Singh is the only athlete from the J&K participating in the BRICS Games at Kazan.
The Indian Wushu team was shortlisted by the technical committee of the Wushu Association of India (WAI) at Jammu.
Bhanu is the first Asian Games medallist of the J&K and has several medals to his feather at the highest level of the championships.
The team has left for the Games on Tuesday and will report back on June 18, read a handout.
Bhanu last year secured a Gold medal in the National Games and Fifth place in the 19th Asian Games at Hangzhou.
The Wushu Association of J&K President Vijay Saraf and General Secretary Bhavneet congratulated Bhanu. Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, and National Chief Coach of India (Wushu), Kuldeep Handoo wished him the prestigious competition hoping that the Indian Wushu team would make the nation proud.
