In a continued effort to curb the drug menace, Sopore Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substances during a routine naka checking operation.
A police team from Police Station Tarzoo intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK11B-0112 at Parray Mohalla Haigam. The vehicle was driven by Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, son of Abdul Kabeer Bhat, a resident of Hashmatpora Hathlangoo. During the search, poppy straw-like substance was recovered from his possession.
The accused was immediately taken into custody, and a case under FIR No. 88/2025 has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo under relevant sections of the law. The vehicle used in the crime has also been seized.
Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any instances of drug peddling or criminal activity to the nearest police station or by dialing 112. The community has been assured of firm action against drug offenders in accordance with the law.(KINS)
