Casualties feared after a massive cloudburst hit a remote village, Chosit, today in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said that flash floods were triggered after a cloudburst hit the Chositi village of Kishtwar, adding, “Casualties are feared in the fury, but exact details are being ascertained.”
Meanwhile, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh posted on X, “Just now spoke to DC Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma after receiving an urgent message from LoP Jammu and Kashmir and local MLA Sunil Kumar Sharma.”
“Massive cloudburst in the Chositi area, which could result in substantial casualty. Administration has immediately swung into action; the rescue team has left for the site,” he wrote on X.
He further posted, “Damage evaluation and necessary rescue and medical management arrangements are being made. My office is receiving regular updates; all possible assistance will be provided.”
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, in a post on X, said, “Anguished by the cloudburst in Chositi, Kishtwar. Condolences to bereaved families and prayers for quick recovery of injured.”
Directed civil, police, army, NDRF, and SDRF officials to strengthen the rescue and relief operations and ensure all possible assistance is provided to the affected, said LG Sinha.
