JKCA announces newly elected office bearers after Supreme Court stay lifted

The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) today announced its new elected office bearers.


The JKCA communiqué said that all stakeholders, affiliated members, players, officials, and the general public, pursuant to the proceedings before the Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 17/2026 titled Youth Cricket Club and Others. V/s Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association & Anr, the petitioners today withdrew the petition filed before the Supreme Court of India.


During the proceedings held today, learned counsel appearing on behalf of JKCA raised preliminary objections regarding the maintainability of the petition.


Consequent upon the withdrawal of the petition by the petitioners, the interim order dated 08.01.2026 passed by the Supreme Court, whereby the election process was permitted to continue but the declaration of results was stayed, stands vacated.


Accordingly, the Electoral Officer, A.K. Joti, IAS (Retd.), in exercise of the powers vested in him, has formally declared the results of the JKCA Elections 2025 vide order dated May 21, 2026.


The candidates have been declared duly elected to their respective posts, including President – Javid Ahmed Kitab; Vice-President – Desh Rattan Dubey; Secretary – Vivek Khajuria; Joint Secretary – Wajahat Majeed; Treasurer – Rajan Singh; Member, Apex Council – Anil Kumar Koul and Member, Apex Council– Rakesh Koul.


Meanwhile, pursuant to the communication received from the Deputy Accountant General (Admn), Ankush Kumar, Senior Deputy Accountant General (AMG I/Administration), has been nominated by AG Office to JKCA Apex Council under Rule 22 (b) (iii), while pursuant to communication received from the Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA), Ankita Jalla and Vikrant Taggar have been nominated to JKCA Apex Council under Rule 22 (b) (ii).


JKCA expresses gratitude to the Supreme Court, the Electoral Officer, members of the Association, and all stakeholders for ensuring that the electoral process was conducted in a fair, transparent and democratic manner.


The Association now looks forward to moving ahead collectively in the larger interest of cricket in the union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.


The outgoing Sub Committee Members of JKCA, while congratulating the newly elected office bearers, have wished them good luck for their future endeavours.
