Fresh batch of 6,482 Amarnath pilgrims leaves from Jammu

The annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra has witnessed an overwhelming spiritual turnout, with over 1 lakh pilgrims performing darshan at the holy cave shrine within the first six days of the pilgrimage.

The announcement was made by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who
also serves as the Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), the body responsible
for overseeing the pilgrimage.

“The journey of faith, holy Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra has surpassed one lakh pilgrims within the first six days of pilgrimage. The spiritual festivity and Yatra is continuing smoothly on both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes and expected to draw more devotees in the days to come,” office of J&K LG said in a post on X.

This year’s annual Amarnath Yatra started on July 3 from the twin tracks – the traditional 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district.

Meanwhile, Police in Anantnag successfully recovered a lost bag belonging to an elderly pilgrim participating in the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.

Police Post Nunwan received an information regarding the loss of a bag belonging to an elderly pilgrim participating in the Yatra which contained approximately Rs 40,000 cash along with several important documents.

“Upon receiving the information, police personnel of Police Post Nunwan promptly initiated a thorough search of the entire camp premises. During the search, the bag was located in a corner
of the Nunwan camp. Upon inspection, the full amount of Rs 40,000 and all the essential
documents were found intact inside the bag,” a police statement said.

The recovered bag, along with the cash and documents, was handed over to the said pilgrim after proper verification and against a formal receipt.
