Punjab: 3 women dead, 40 others injured in two road accidents

Three women died and over 40 persons were injured in two separate accidents involving vehicles carrying farmers on Saturday in Punjab, police said.

A bus carrying members of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ugraha) turned turtles near Bathinda national bypass. The mishap left three women dead and many others were injured. The bus was on its way
from Kotha Guru Village of Bathinda to Tohana of Haryana where a ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ was organised.

Another incident occurred near Barnala sub-jail, where a bus and truck collided. The bus, carrying farmers from village Dallewal, was on its way to Khanauri border, where farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal is on fast unto death since November 26.

About 40 injured persons have been admitted to Barnala, Bathinda, Ludhiana and Patiala hospitals. ix of them have been seriously injured.
