Gunfight Rages In South Kashmir’s Tral Village

Tral: A gunfight is under way in Chankitar area of Tral town here in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Reports said that government forces after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in the village cordoned off the village.

As the searches started, a contact was established with militants when they fired upon the search party.

A police official said that Indian Army from 42 Rashtriya Rifles and 180 Battalion CRPF plus counter insurgent forces Special Operation Group are on job.

Local sources said that at least two militants are presented in the village. “Intermittent firing is going on while a large number of locals have assembled on the roads,” said an eyewitness.
