Six killed as auto overturns after colliding with car

Six people, including three members of a family, were killed and four others were injured when an auto-rickshaw overturned after colliding with a car in the Kheragarh area of Agra district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while condoling the loss of lives in the accident, has directed the officials to reach the hospital immediately and ensure proper treatment of the injured.

Police sources said that the incident took place Monday night when the auto-rickshaw carrying passengers collided with the speeding car coming from the opposite direction on the Kheragarh-Saiyan road. “Three persons, including auto driver Bhola (33), Brij Mohan Sharma (62) and Sumit (12), were killed on the spot in the incident,” they said.

Police sources said that the injured were taken to the hospital, where Sumit’s father Jai Prakash (45), mother Brajesh Devi (44) and Manoj Sharma succumbed to injuries.

Inspector-in-charge Rajiv Kumar said that the driver of the car escaped after the incident. “The car has been impounded, and its passengers escaped unhurt due to airbags.” Preliminary investigation has revealed that the car driver, Bunti, a resident of Saiyan, had a booze party with his friends Pinku and Baniya in Khairagarh on Monday night,” he said.

He said that Bunty was going to drop off his friends after the party when the incident took place. The Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) said that Pinku and Baniya have been nabbed by the police, whereas driver Bunty is absconding after the incident.
