Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin today
urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to include Tamil and other
regional languages in the computer test for CRPF recruitment.
In a letter to Mr Shah, copies of which were released to the media
here, he termed as ‘discriminatory’ and ‘unilateral’, the Centre’s
notification mandating only the use of English and Hindi in the
CRPF test to be held in 12 centres across the country to fill up
9,212 vacancies, including 579 fromTamil nadu.
The notification stating that the exam can be written in English
and Hindi has shocked the aspirants from Tamil Nadu and puts
them in an disadvantageous position as they were unable to
take the test in their mother tongue in their own ‘native state.’
Mr Stalin also said the fact that 25 out of the 100 marks have been
allotted for ‘basic comprehension in Hindi’ would only benefit
Hindi-speaking candidates.
Stating that the notification was against the interests of those
applying for the exam from Tamil Nadu, Mr Stalin said it was not
only unilateral, but disrcriminatory and prevents the aspirants
from TN in taking up government jobs.
In this regard, Mr Stalin urged Mr Shah to immediately intervene
on the matter to enable non-Hindi speaking youngsters take the
test by allowing regional languages, including Tamil in the exam
process.
