A student, who shot the Chairman of his management institute, was arrested along with his associate from Faridpur area of Bareilly district here in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, a police officer said here.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Raj Kumar Agarwal said that on April 26 Shreshtha Saini, a third year student of BPharma, shot at Chairman of Lotus Institute of Management Abhishek Agarwal after being suspended for using a mobile phone in the class.
He said that Shreastha was arrested from Faridpur-Bisalpur underpass at around 10.30 am and an illicit firearm used in the attack was recovered from his possession.
“After being arrested Shreshtha revealed that his neighbour Saksham Saini gave him the firearm after which the latter was also arrested,” he said.
The SP said that when quizzed Shreshtha revealed that the institute management imposed a fine of Rs 13,500 on him and some other students for remaining absent.
The student claimed that the penalty imposed on students was waived off, but the chairman started targeting him after the incident due to which he committed the act,” he said.
