Srinagar: Army on Wednesday said that it foiled an infiltration bid in Gurez sector of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

An army officer told GNS that at about 04:00 pm, a group of 4 to 5 militants attempted to sneak in this side in the general area of Naushehra Nar in Kanjalwan of Gurez. “The soldiers of 36 RR manning the fence challenged their move and the militants opened fire leading to a brief exchange of gunfight”.

After being challenged, the militants returned back, the officer said.

Soon after the incident, a search operation was carried out during which two AK 47 rifles with nine magazines, 187 rounds, one Chinese pistol with two magazines, two rounds and one Pithu bag, the officer said.
