Sanat Nagar Public Park Safe Haven For Anti-Social Elements

Srinagar: The presence of anti-social elements in large numbers in Sanat Nagar public park has been irking local residents who have made a vehement appeal to civil and police administration to initiate strict action against those indulging in immoral activities in and around the park.

   A group of people from Sanat Nagar area of Srinagar city told news agency CNS that the public park located near bund side has become the hub of immoral activities.

They said that throughout the day, drug addicts, vagabonds and debauch can be seen in the park while boys and girls who bunk their classes also take refuge in this public park.

   “These drug addicts resort to abuses in front of local residents. Female folk feels uneasiness in their presence.

They fight with one another in full public glare. Their actions embarrass us, particularly our daughters and mothers who are unable to peep through the windows of their houses,” the locals said adding that they have already filed a complaint with the Grievance Cell.

   Pertinently, last time a video shot outside the same park had gone viral in which couple of youth could be seen abusing and fighting with one another.

That video was widely shared by netizens on social media networking sites who had demanded action against those vegabonds.

   When contacted, Station House Officer Police Station Saddar said that action will be initiated against those indulging in illegal activities in the park.

“I request locals to inform police station Saddar whenever they feel such activities are going on inside the park,” he said adding that addressing the grievances of general public is first  priority of police. (CNS)  Haven Haven Haven
