Major land scam exposed in Jammu: ACB registers fresh FIRs against revenue officials, middlemen and beneficiaries

The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday filed a charge-sheet against Dr. Bilquees Ara Sidique, former in-charge Scientist-C at Pollution Control Committee Srinagar, in a bribery case registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, before the Additional Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court in Srinagar.


The case was registered by ACB in January 8, 2024 on a written complaint alleging therein that aforesaid accused demanded Rs 20,000 as bribe for issuing ‘Consent to Operate’ (CTO) a bakery unit belonging to complainant situated at Industrial Estate Khunmoh.


A trap was laid down and the accused lady was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 5000 as bribe from the complainant. The bribe money was recovered on spot and chemical tests later confirmed the presence of phenolphthalein on the accused’s hands.


“Based on the facts and circumstances together with cogent evidences brought on record, the investigation established the commission of offence u/s 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against the accused public servant,” the ACB said.


After obtaining the requisite sanction for prosecution from the government the charge-sheet was presented before the Court of Additional Special Anti-Corruption Judge Srinagar, today for judicial determination.


The next date of hearing has been fixed on February 12.
