Kashmir experiences colder nights

SRINAGAR, MAR 8 (UNI):- With improvement of weather tourist enjoing shikara rides at World famous Dal Lake in Sriangar on Tuesday.

 Nights turned colder as minimum temperature dips all across the Kashmir valley on Tuesday even as the Meteorological Department forecast mainly dry weather to continue in J&K during the next 24 hours.
Dry and mostly sunny weather is expected in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh during the next 10 days. Cloudy skies are possible on some days, but precipitation is unlikely, Kashmir weather an independent weather observer Faizan Arif told UNI.
He said dry weather can persist until the end of the first week of December, although there is some possibility of weak Western Disturbances around December 1 to 4.
Cold conditions continue to prevail in Srinagar even as the sun appeared with mild fog engulfed around on Tuesday. Tourists on the fashionable boulevard road on the bank of Dal Lake were seen wearing warm clothes and headgears leaving for outings for the day.
Srinagar recorded a low of 0.2 degree Celsius on Tuesday against the 3.7 degree Celsius recorded on previous night which was 0.1 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the season.
Tourist hotspot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 4.2 degree Celsius the previous night against minus 3.5 degree Celsius recorded a day ago which was minus 2.4 degree Celsius below normal during this time of the season.
Ski resort of Gulmarg had a low of minus 3.5 degree Celsius recorded last night against the minus 3.4 degree Celsius recorded a day ago which was minus 1.4 degree Celsius below normal during this time of the year at the meadow of the valley.
Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway recorded a low of minus 1.2 degree Celsius on Tuesday against the 3.0 degree Celsius recorded a day ago which was minus 1.3 degree Celsius below normal during this time of the season.
Frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara had a low of minus 1.8 degree Celsius against the minus 0.3 degree Celsius recorded on the previous day and Kukernag settled at 0.6 degree Celsius against the 3.4 degree Celsius recorded the previous night, the MeT office said.
