Srinagar: Frequent and prolonged incarcerations have taken a heavy toll on JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik’s health which is deteriorating at a very fast speed. JKLF chairman has spent most of his time in jails especially from last four years.
This was stated by various Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leaders while speaking at a meeting that was organized to deliberate upon the worsening health of JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik who is languishing in police custody from 19th November 2018.
In a statement to VMS, terming the frequent and prolonged incarcerations of JKLF chairman as travesty of justice and democracy, JKLF leaders said that though Yasin Malik has been in and out of jails and police stations from a long time and has spent most of his time in incarceration centers but from 2014 arresting and putting him in jails and police stations has become a daily routine of so-called rulers and these frequent and prolonged incarcerations have actually taken a heavy toll on his health which has deteriorated considerably.
Participants of the meeting said that JKLF chairman was arrested on 2nd of October 2018, before the commencement of Municipal election drama this year and released after about moth long incarceration but only after few days, he was again arrested by police and is since then languishing in a small room at police station Maisuma.
Speakers said that in last ten months (about 300 days) this year, JKLF chairman has spent about 120 days in incarceration and during this period he was arrested about 20 times by police.
This shows the aggressive and undemocratic attitude of so-called rulers and occupational authorities with JKLF chairman and also the real face of Indian democracy which is not allowing any peaceful political dissent in Jammu Kashmir.
Yasin Sahib is a chronic heart patient for which he has to see a doctor regularly, he has kidney ailment too and recent confinement in a small room at Maisuma police station has developed a severe pain in his back too.
While expressing serious concern over this worsening situation of JKLF chairman, speakers in the meeting urged international human rights organizations, UNHRC, amnesty international and ICRC to take a serious cognizance of deteriorating health of JKLF incarcerated chairman and the oppression unleashed against thousands of Kashmiri inmates in jails of Jammu Kashmir and India, speakers said that if international community and champions of human rights are not able to safeguard humans in Kashmir, people here will lost faith in them which is not good for humankind and human values.
