A woman, who had earlier accused the Superintendent of Police of Kaushambi district of teasing her, on Tuesday retracted her earlier statement and said that she levelled false allegations to defame the officer after being scolded by the officer’s wife.

It may be noted that a domestic worker at the residence of SP Brijesh Kumar Srivastava had accused him of teasing her, after which Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Prayagraj Zone Bhanu Bhaskar constituted a three-member committee to investigate the allegation.

The committee included Inspector General of Police (IG) Chandra Prakash, SP Chitrakoot Vrinda Shukla and Chief Development Officer of Pratapgarh Isha Priya.

Meanwhile, the woman who made the allegations told reporters, “While working in the SP’s residence, a plate got damaged by me, for which the madam scolded me and the sir fired me from work. In a fit of anger, I falsely accused the SP Brijesh Kumar Srivastava of teasing in a bid to defame him.”

It may be mentioned that the SP hired the woman at his residence two months ago to serve his mother.
