Sri Lanka Navy commander in India, calls on CNS Admiral Hari Kumar, CDS Gen Anil Chauhan

Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, who is on a five-day visit to India, today called on Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar in New Delhi and held discussions on collaborative mechanisms towards ensuring peace and security in the region.

He was received with a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the South Block Lawns. Earlier in the day he paid homage to the bravehearts at the National War Memorial, a statement said.

During the visit, VAdm Priyantha Perera will be presiding over the Passing Out Parade of the Spring Term 23 at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala.

The Indian Navy spokesperson in a tweet said the visit symbolises the close naval cooperation between the two maritime neighbours in the Indian Ocean Region.

“The two Chiefs had a fruitful interaction with discussions on avenues of further enhancing naval cooperation, laying emphasis on the collaborative mechanisms towards ensuring peace and security in the region.”

The Sri Lanka Navy commander also called on Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, during which the discussions focused on enhancing the defence ties.

The Headquarters of the Integrated Defence Staff, in a tweet, said

“Vice Adm Priyantha Perera, Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy called on Gen Anil Chauhan, #CDS. Discussion focussed on augmenting the strong historical defence relationship, enhancing #defencecooperation by identifying new avenues and regional maritime situation.”
